News and commentary about Carbondale, Illinois and SIUC

About

This blog is about Carbondale, Southern Illinois University, Jackson County, and the surrounding area.  I mostly write about local politics and zoning, but I occasionally write about the university and other topics.  I’m also be happy to post notices about community events.  If you have an event you would like me to post, please email me at the address below.

Comments on the posts are welcome, but but please read the comment guidelines.  I’ll delete comments if they are disruptive, libelous or hateful.

I initially chose to blog anonymously because this blog isn’t about me.  It is about Carbondale, SIUC, Jackson County, and the surrounding area.  I’m interested in writing about local government, zoning, and the university.  I’m not interested in writing about myself. As time went on and more people began reading and commenting on the blog, I decided I should put my name on the blog. I still don’t want to write much about myself.

My name is Adam Loos. I have lived in Carbondale continuously since 2000, but I lived here briefly during 1999 and voted in the municipal election that year. In addition, I am from a neighboring county and have been doing my shopping here since I was a child. I work at SIUC and I am on the board of the Northwest Carbondale Neighborhood Association. On this blog, I speak only for myself — not for SIUC and not for the Northwest Carbondale Neighborhood Association.

If you would like to contact me, please email carbondaleobserver (at) gmail.com.  Replace the (at) with an @.

Thanks for reading.
